When seeing is NOT Believing

*UPDATE 16th May 2007 20:53* Paul has posted a YouTube Video describing his efforts and I think it is worth watching - if you want the logic behind this endeavour. It seems as though I am having late night camera-in-hand affects on people. Is anyone else up to weird stuff thanks to me?
Cheers Paul, nice work!

I think most of you know that my Tablet PC geek-iness is so far out of control that it is almost irreversible now. I still remember vividly a video I shot demonstrating how The Origami devices would work well before they had been released. It caught a lot of attention and highlighted two things:

  • We can create Virtual Hardware experiences and still learn a lot;
  • People will go to extraordinary lengths to make the intangible tangible.

Why all this rhetoric?

Recently I was pinged by a fellow Aussie and passionate follower of bleeding edge technology who had gone down a similar path to me, i.e. creating Virtual Hardware. I thought it was so amusing creepy intriguing enthusiastically replicated that I had to share it with all of you. For the record his name is Paul Stanway and his passion is papier-mâché sculpture origami Gadgets!

Oh…and so you know…NONE OF THESE DEVICES ARE REAL. ALL ARE MADE FROM HI-RES PRINTOUTS FOLDED TO SCALE TO REPLICATE ACTUAL DEVICES ABOUT TO HIT THE MARKER. LOL.

Hey Hugo, I recently came across your site as someone linked me here from www.micropctalk.com I'm interested in reading your thoughts about the OQO02 because I've never been able to actually get my hands on one to try it out myself. I would also like to invite you to come check out www.micropctalk.com we have a very nicely sized UMPC community/forum running, and would love for you to join us. The majority of us have Sony UX UMPC's, but our forums have sections for all types UMPC's, maybe you could front the OQO dicussion : P

Drop me a PM if you stop by, the name is Benz145

Ha! You've got me doing the whole "Hugo Thing" too! Here are my comments about using the Q1 as an ebook reader. Whew! Video blogging is a lot harder than it looks though. You're a pro, Hugo. I'm just learning.
